Christmas concert featured Margaret Wyatt Piano and Vocal Studio. The
concert was sponsered by the Churchill Chapter of the United Daughters of
the Confederacy and was free and open to the public. |

The Teddy Bear and the Spanish-American War Family Fun Day
The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History hosted a fun filled day
of crafts, entertainment and history tied into the recent opening of the
museum’s newest exhibit, A Splendid Little War: Arkansas and the
Spanish-American War. Children got a chance to make Teddy Bear paper
dolls, masks, Rough Rider paper dolls or a wooden battleship resembling
the “USS Maine.” The true story of how our beloved “Teddy Bear" was
created was read with a dramatic flair throughout the day. “Beremy Bear”
from Build-a-Bear and a group of local cowboys also made a visit. |

Marker Dedication honoring Theodore Roosevelt
The audience became a part of history during the dedication of the
"Theodore Roosevelt Marker." Commemorating Theodore Roosevelt's first
visit to Little Rock on October 25, 1905, the marker celebrates
Roosevelt's brief visit to MacArthur Park, then called City Park. |

Joe Wiegand brought history to life with his performance as President
Roosevelt and regaled the audience with tales of his adventures during the
Spanish-American War as well as his visit to Little Rock in 1905. |

In Search of Pancho Villa: The Mexican Punitive Expedition of 1916 and
America's intervention and Occupation of Vera Cruz
This expanded exhibit opened in coordination with the city wide
celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Mexican Revolution—Mexico 2010
Celebration. The exhibit explored the first use of Arkansas' National
Guard by the United States Government in their search for Mexican bandit
Pancho Villa. |

To Avoid an Effusion of Blood
Sesquicentennial Celebration of the Arsenal Crisis 1861
This event honored the 150th anniversary of the Arsenal Crisis. Guest
lecturers spoke on a variety of topics connected to Arkansas' connection
to the start of the Civil War and the events leading up to the Arsenal
Crisis. Living historians demonstrated weaponry of the era, as well as
military encampments. |

Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre
The Old Arsenal Building, located in MacArthur Park, hosted Murder Mystery
Dinner Theatre, where guests could play detective and help solve the
murder. |

In Search of Pancho Villa Reception
The reception was held in honor of the 100th anniversary of the
Mexican Revolution and the special events surrounding the Mexico 2010
project. One of the first cars used in U.S. combat operations was on
display during the reception. The 1915 Dodge brothers touring car was
used by General John J. Pershing as he led 12,000 American troops in
search of Mexican Revolutionary Pancho Villa in 1916. The restored
convertible is owned by retired oilman Jack Thomas of Mountain View,
Arkansas. |
