June 7, 2008 12th Annual Flag Day Concert in the Park
Many brought lawn chairs, picnic baskets, and their family to this year's Flag Day Concert in the Park sponsored by the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History and the Little Rock Wind Symphony. Before the concert began, a flag retiring ceremony was held by Woodman of the World and the Boy Scouts of America. Free ice cream was provided by Blue Bell Creameries and served by the friendly Scouts. The annual celebration was greatly enjoyed and filled with inspiring music.
March 15, 2008 Women's History Day Event
The Museum hosted a day of activities to commemorate women's history. The event was open to the public and included arts and crafts, living history, and other great activities.
December 2007 Second Annual Holiday at the Arsenal Open House
Visitors welcomed the holiday season at the old Arsenal Building and enjoyed refreshments, music, arts, and crafts for the kids.
November 2007 Arsenal Award Presentation
October 31, 2007 Big Boo-seum Bash
The Big Boo-seum Bash included safe and free trick or treating complete with the ghosts in the old Arsenal Building. A bus to seven other locations courtesy of the downtown museums ensured an interesting and educational experience.
October 18, 2007 The Forgotten War: Arkansas and the Korean Conflict
This exhibit featured artifacts and information regarding the United States and Arkansas soldiers involvement in the Korean War. The exhibit opened October 18, 2007, with an exciting fundraising event.
September 21-22, 2007 World Fest in MacArthur Park
Visitors enjoyed festivities in MacArthur Park including arts, crafts, games, and hands-on activities.
June 10, 2007 11th annual Flag Day celebration
This was an evening of music and fun. The crowd enjoyed the music of the Little Rock Wind Symphony while eating cool, refreshing ice cream.
April 28, 2007 MacArthur Park Spring Cleanup
Participants brought rakes, brooms, and trash bags to join the community effort to revitalize one of the city's oldest parks. The City of Little Rock Parks Department provided lunch. Little Rock Parks and Recreation Department sponsored the event.
April 21, 2007 History Channel Premiered New Series "The States"
The History Channel premiered its new series "The States" on Saturday, April 21. This 10-part series paints an unforgettable portrait of America by detailing the unique history and character of five states in each episode. Viewers will discover, for each state, the true stories of famous legends, little-known facts, colorful local characters and celebrities, and a history rich in details. Arkansas was among the states featured in the April 28 segment, along with Texas, Massachusetts, Iowa and Delaware. Stories included in the Arkansas segment are:
  • The Union execution of accused rebel David Owen Dodd forever immortalized this 17-year-old.
  • Gangland figures like Al Capone turned the spa town of Hot Springs into the gambling capital of America.
  • Nine African American high school students attempted to enroll at Little Rock's Central High School in 1957 and made Civil Rights History.
